<title>Are You Getting the Best from Your Board?</title>
				<link>http://www.creativebradford.co.uk/news/newsStory/?newsID=214</link>
<description>Arts &amp;amp; Business and WYVAN (West Yorkshire Visual Arts Network) present:

Are You Getting the Best From Your Board?

Date: 16 June 2010

Time: 1:30-4 PM
Venue: East Street Arts, Patrick Studios, St Mary's Lane, Leeds, LS9 7EH

This free half day workshop is an opportunity to explore, with experts, various models of good managerial practice within small cultural/creative organisations. How to develop supportive working relationships, effective communication and decisive decision making between staff and board members in order to manage the company efficiently and deliver its constitutional aims appropriately: This is good governance in action but how does it work?

The workshop will cover:

Who leads who?

How do you create a management structure that suits your organisation?

What models of organisational structure are available?
What are the "must-do" and legal requirements?
How do you manage expectations and enable all to have positive input in decision making?
What collective skills, experience and knowledge do you and your board need?
Are Board members good ambassadors for your organisation?

This interactive event will be a mixture of guidance, advice and open discussion. We can learn a great deal from each others experiences so join us and be prepared to share.

This event is relevant to everyone involved in the governance, management and day to day support of cultural/creative organisations.

The event will be facilitated by Jean Tempest, Regional Manager for Arts &amp;amp; Business.
