CURATING YOUR OWN WORK

9 February 2010

3-5 PM

Yorkshire Craft Centre Gallery, Carlton Street, Bradford BD7 1AY

This session will cover the basics of things to consider when preparing work for public presentation. In addition to the practical aspects, such as what height to hang work and different types of framing, Caroline will also explore considerations in presenting work dependant on context, i.e. 2D, installation, bookworks, web-based, collaborative, group shows, performance... and gallery and non-gallery spaces.

Caroline Hick (aka Bob) has been curating exhibitions and arts projects in the Bradford district for longer than she cares to remember... She is currently Fellow in Visual Arts at the University of Bradford, where she is responsible for devising and curating the visual arts programme on and off campus. Many people will know her from South Square Gallery, where she co-ordinated the exhibition programme and bursaries for emerging artists. She has also worked freelance on a variety of arts and exhibition projects and sometimes even finds time for her own work.

Following this session, stay on for the launch of the new visual arts network, B:VAN, also in the gallery!
