Do you want to make a movie? Do you have any budding Spielbergs in your school?
In 2009 Bradford's became the world's first UNESCO City of Film and to mark this achievement 'Bradford City of Film' would like to invite schools in Bradford district to take part in our very own short film competition. We're looking for short films made by young people which are 'Made in Bradford'.
Films can be of any genre including fiction, animation and documentary as well as projects that cut across these categories. Prizes of £250, £200 & £150 will be awarded to the films that best address the subject and demonstrate an imaginative approach.
Films will be screened at a special awards event as part of the opening weekend of the Bradford International Film Festival in March 2010, where they will be judged by a guest panel drawn from Bradford's City of Film project. Films will also be considered for screening at the National Media Museum; on Bradford's Big Screen and via the Bradford City of Film website and help will be offered in submitting successful films to festivals such as the Co-op Young Film-makers Festival.
Some filming equipment, such as high-definition cameras and sound equipment, is available through Bradford City of Film and Fabric. If you need help in using the equipment we can also put you in touch with experienced film makers who can help you and your students with the filmmaking process. The deadline for completed short films is 28th February 2010.
Films must be sent, along with a completed submission form, available here or via the Bradford City of Film website. Submission details are on the submission form, but if you have any questions, you can contact Alissa Juvan at Fabric on 01274 370 291 or via email at alissa.juvan@creativebradford.co.uk.
